Eye Contact

Making eye contact means looking eye to eye with the person you are talking to not staring them down.

I know many cultures do not have direct eye contact, especially with older people or people of authority.  Many look down out of respect.

I also see see people looking up in the air or all around while talking, anything but eye contact.

That being understood, it is also true that every baby in every culture needs eye contact for comfort and expression.   Every culture has that thing of ignoring people and not looking at them when angry.

If you meet eyes it builds trust.

You can show expression or see the other persons expression.

Eye contact leads to understanding and trust.
